I studied bcom in strategic management, graduated and months later regretted why I even did a degree with Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law when I'm not even going to branch out into those industries. Now I feel like I should have studied Project Management or Digital Marketing however…. I have a major advantage here because I studied a wide range of modules in different industries so it's not all a loss.
I’ve started to realize 9 years after graduating and working it’s better to job hop because most of the time you stay at one place you get 3% raise and based on my personal experience you can get a bigger pay and easier job of better work environment if you get a different job. Don’t ever feel like you have to stay or go with the first offer tons of opportunity out there
When you are young and about to graduate from college, you often don't know what you want to do. But you have to make a decision and move forward. The CPA is the best certification for career versatility. She got it while she was a college student, so she's competent.
I am doing my BBA in finance 4th year. And am realizing my Analytic Skills are not pretty good plus my communication skills are very poor i have a stammer since for long which stops me from giving presentations and that's why i didn't take HR which was very easy for me as i like theoretical stuff.
I'll be graduating this year my CGPA is 3.5 it's not bad but i really want to know what are my options in Masters or i should i continue with in Finance? I need Guidance from seniors.
I mean, fair enough, but I'm pretty sick of exploring being broke. I'd rather have honest work in a stable industry. I wish I had snapped myself out of my delusions in college as I majored in liberal arts and then couldn't even get jobs as a line cook.
Accounting is better if you're not someone with flying colors. You'll end up doing the same as accountant with lower position and salary if you graduated as an average joe with marketing as the tasks of both jobs are overlapping.
I've working in graphic design and marketing..even payroll for awhile and realize I'm considering going back to accounting because it's a way more secure, well-paid, in-demand job (rather than "doing what I love", that's unstable and not the best salary + dealing with clients and projects can be challenging). The grass is not greener. I had to explore those other options to come full circle and now want to work for the life I want. The opportunity in accounting is a way smarter choice IMO…coming from the other side.

Taking accounting degree do not mean that u will be only accountant sure kids u explore and see your options but if it did not work it is okay just do not ever stop working and learning. Like if you took accounting you can do different stuff like finance, banking, economics, and so many things within business domains. Example me i took accounting and now i work in banking private equity and i love my Job, i will never change my major ever.
This speaks to me! I have the same story. I secured a big 4 internship right after my sophomore year and had 2 more summer internships after that which led to a full time job in audit. Back then I didn't know there were other avenues to explore outside audit and tax so I just stuck with core accounting for a while because I thought that having an accounting degree meant you're pretty much stuck with accounting, audit, or tax. not knowing that people can pivot into more interesting jobs in business. I feel like I've pigeonholed myself at times but now working to move into a finance role to get into asset management. Just wish I knew a faster way to get there early on.
Don’t Listen to people online! Seriously ! I did explore as a Multimedia Designer diploma to a Graphic Designer Bachelors. Hated my job, people I work with, got burned out so quickly, too much competition as a designer and marketing job. Got FIRED! Now I am in huge tuition debt I owe to loans.
I decided to pursue an accounting degree because it was something I like to begin with. Do not explore and be in debt.

What a horribly selfish and dishonest person. She has the choice to leave ucla and go to a different university that offers marketing but she rather sit there and whine that ucla isn’t giving her everything she wanted. what a child
Please ignore this dogshit advice. Take the first job offer and keep applying for new jobs. A recruiter is much more likely to consider an applicant who already has a job, as it shows that the applicant is interested in the field and not just desperate for a paycheck.
Her privilege is showing…. not everyone has a choice in their career. While she's out here making choices about where to work, other people are hustling to get a job in the first place. Not shitting on her, but it shows perspective of different starting points. Her advice only applies to a small group of people
